What’s a bird’s nest made out of? Sticks, obviously, but many birds like to add a little something extra to their homes. Birds will often use softer materials to make their nests more cozy for their fragile babies—and that’s where you can help them! Alpaca fiber is an excellent nesting material for many songbirds. Their fiber is water-resistant and dries quickly, keeping nests soft and warm. It’s easily used by birds, and doesn’t attract predators to the nest.
Simply hang the ball outside on a sturdy tree branch, and watch as both mama and papa birds come to take a few clumps. Our balls are 100% sustainable and biodegradable, so there’s no need to worry about littering (ain’t that a relief?). Each ball is roughly seven inches in diameter, wrapped in grapevine, and packed with unprocessed alpaca fiber from our fibrous family. Birds from all across the country will stop to take a few strands—if you’re in our area, keep an eye out for chickadees and titmice! These balls are the perfect gift for bird lovers, children, and garden enthusiasts (or, perhaps, a curious indoor cat who likes to watch through windows).
